A Pair of Plays
by J. M. Barrie

Two one acts plays by the author of
"Peter Pan."

The Old Lady Shows Her Medals tells the story of a lonely charwoman.  All of her friends have husbands or brothers in the Great War and she feels left out.  To feel a part of the war, she picked a picture of a soldier at random form the newspaper and told her friends that the soldier was her son.  The neighborhood priest recognizes the soldier at the train station, and brings him back to the charwoman’s flat.  How is she going to explain herself now?

A Well Remembered Voice takes place after a mother holds a séance to try to communicate with her son, who had been killed in the war.  The spirit of her dead son does indeed appear, but not to the person who summoned him.  Whose strong feelings have brought the son’s spirit back?
